A small Kansas City crew, and the advice it runs on
Kaw Garage Door takes its name from the Kaw, the river locals have always meant when they say the Kansas River. It meets the Missouri at Kaw Point, a short walk from where owner Dan Kovac grew up, a few streets from Strawberry Hill in Kansas City, Kansas.
Dan spent seven years installing and repairing garage doors for other companies across the metro. The calls that stayed with him were the second calls: homeowners paying twice because the first job was rushed, or hurried into a new door when a part would have fixed the old one. Kaw Garage Door dates to 2018: one truck, and one piece of advice Dan repeats to this day, that nobody should approve a repair without hearing its whole price first.
How we work
This is a repair shop, not a sales operation. The crew stays small by choice: Dan leads, Brett turns wrenches beside him, and Erin answers the phone herself. Most Kansas City calls are handled the same day, on either side of the state line.
When a door or opener really has reached the end, ask the tech to show you what failed, and get the new one priced apart from the repair bill. Decide on your own schedule.
What we stand on
Price first
Hear the whole price before anyone starts, and if anything is added later, hear that number too and approve it before it is touched.
Repair first
A repair that will hold beats a new door. Replacement comes last here, after every sound part has had its chance.
Small on purpose
We would rather run fewer calls and do each one carefully than pack the board and hurry through them.
Free estimate
It starts with a free, hassle-free estimate, and there is no obligation attached.
